Roland Barrios, a Newark resident, joined Cowleys in April 2021 as a Pest Control Technician for our new office in Somerville, NJ, and since day 1, he's been a welcomed and valuable asset to Cowleys!

Prior to joining the Cowleys family, Roland worked as a Route Manager for many years. So when it comes to OSHA and DEP safety, Roland is well trained in the field!

What caught our eye during Roland's interview was his work ethic and his desire to always give 100%! He is a fantastic team player, always willing to lend a hand to current and new customers as well as fellow technicians, and his phenomenal set of communication skills which he uses day-today when communicating with our customers.

When not keeping homes pest-free, Roland loves BBQing and spending time with his family. Also, he is a die-hard sports fan, but his all-time favorite team is the New York Yankees!

During our inspection, we discovered that the yellow jackets were entering a ceiling void via the outdoor fire sprinkler head.
Lastly, we treated the infestation areas with a fly bait to control the adult fruit flies. Once we finished, we spoke to the owner and mentioned a few, simple sanitation protocols that will prevent any future pest issues.
After locating the nest on the exterior of the building, we grabbed our extendable pole, attached a knockdown dusting application to it, and began treating the nest.
Bald-faced hornets are social stinging insects that are a close relative to yellow jackets. The surface of their upper midsection almost looks triangular from the side, and they have white markings on their face. They are EXTREMELY aggressive and will not hesitate to sting anything that invades their space. What makes them even scarier is they have smooth stingers, which means they can sting over and over again, can actually sense vibrations in the air, and remember their invader's face!
Voles dig distinctive shallow snake-like tunnels that you'll see all over your lawn. They are about two inches wide and stay near the surface, so they can eat their favorite food, grass stems, and blades.
