A homeowner reached out to us due to uncomfortable drafts and high energy bills, signaling a problem with their attic insulation. Upon inspection, we found the insulation was inadequate and discovered mold spores on the wooden beams and beneath the old insulation, caused by poor ventilation.

To resolve this, we removed the old insulation, treated the mold with Mold-X2, sealed air leaks with ZypFoam, and installed 17 inches of TruSoft cellulose insulation, achieving an R60 thermal value. The result transformed the attic into an energy-efficient space, protecting the home from drafts and moisture. The homeowner was very pleased with the improved comfort and energy savings.

Attic insulation is an important step in solving problems of home comfort, health and wasted energy (and money). This client contacted us because the temperatures in the different rooms fluctuated a lot. In addition, the old insulation became dirty and unhealthy and accumulated dust, dirt and other unwanted material.

To solve this problem, our team began by removing all the old insulation. Then we sealed all the places such as gaps, wiring holes, hunts and the top of the walls to block any air leaks. It was also necessary to encapsulate the ducts with our Tight 'n True high R-value spray foam system. Finally, we insulate the entire space with TruSoft insufflated cellulose. All these products allow the attic to be completely insulated by blocking all air leaks and controlling the energy released in your home.

Solution

Remove the old fiberglass insulation to seal the air leaks with polyurethane foam and blow a little more than 16 in. of cellulose fibers to achieve an R60 value.

The problem

Mr. Benchimol's attic was very poorly insulated and the insulation had not been changed for years.

The solution

Redo the attic insulation, starting by removing the fiberglass to blow out 16 in. of cellulose. This will give an R60 thermal value to the attic.

Cellulose insulation is a highly effective material that will raise your insulation R-value to the recommended levels that your attic needs.

The problem

Ms. Doucet contacted Système Econergie, because she had problems with ice dams on her roof in winter. This is due to the poor insulation of the attic and unclogged air leaks.

The solution

To solve this problem, we removed our customer’s old insulation to seal all air leaks (seal joints, holes etc) with our expanded foam. And then we insulated the access hatch with our SilverGlo to finally blow just over 16”of cellulose fiber insulation all over the attic floor.
