This Alexandria VA home had several small space like the one shown here which were being used for storage. These "Knee walls" were allowing hot air into the connected rooms causing comfort issues for the home owners. In the colder months there would be cold air coming in. We removed the existing insulation panels which were too thin, not air sealed and insufficient. We installed Foamax wall insulation panels, air sealed them with ZypFoam to prevent the movement or air in between the panels and then covered them with CleanSpace seam tape to make the space look clean and usable. this will improve the comfort in the connected rooms and control the temperature inside of the space.
Closed cell spray foam was used to insulate the exterior walls of this basement remodeling project in Alexandria, VA.
This customer had two windows removed in his living room for a new Provia sliding door. He is planning on building a screened in porch this summer.
Protecting conditioned, heated or cooled air, from an HVAC system can help lower energy costs. As air passes through the metal duct system it can react to room temperatures where the ducts are. A cold room with a metal duct can cool heated air moving through it, just as a hot attic with a duct in it can impact the cold air passing through it. Encapsulating HVAC ducts with spray foam keeps the environment inside of the duct safe for conditioned air to travel through.
This Purcellville VA homeowner had several very old basement windows. We were able to change them out with some new energy-efficient windows.
