Complete Attic Restoration - Insulation Removal, Air-Sealing, Sanitizing, and Blown In Fiberglass in Ducor, CA

Antonio contacted us because he had just purchased a home and he immediately noticed that it was incredibly hot and stuffy during the intense heat of the Central Valley summer. At first, he thought the issue was his HVAC system, but he'd had an HVAC technician inspect his system and he found no problems. He mentioned that his insulation was low, so Antonio called Tyson. We came out and took a look in his attic and found that the home only had about 3 inches of insulation present. This was the root cause of his home's temperature discomfort. We decided that an attic restoration was needed to help Antonio achieve his goals of a cool, comfortable home and also reduced cooling costs.

We began by sucking out all of the old, contaminated insulation and sanitizing the attic with DSV sanitizer. We then meticulously air-sealed all leakage points. This included all top plates, registers, recessed lights, and wiring and plumbing penetrations. This is done to prevent airflow between the attic and the home's living spaces. We also installed rodent-proof barriers in the attic to prevent rodents and other pests from entering. Lastly, we blew in 14 inches of fiberglass insulation to bring the attic to the Energy Star-recommended R38 level of protection from heat transfer.

As a result of the thorough attic restoration we completed, Antonion now enjoys a cool, comfortable home in summer, a warm, cozy home in winter, better indoor air quality, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50% for as long as he lives in that home.

Insulation Upgrade to R38 - 7 Inches to 14 Inches in 1440 Sq. Ft. Home in Corcoran, CA

The homeowner called Tyson Energy Solutions seeking a resolution to his high cooling costs and a home that constantly felt hot and stuffy. He initially thought there was a problem with his air conditioner, but an HVAC technician had come out and told him his unit was fine, but that his insulation was low. When we inspected the attic, we confirmed this. The homeowner's attic had only 7 inches of insulation, far below the 14 inches recommended for our climate. Based on these facts, we determined that an insulation upgrade was in order.

We began by air-sealing visible leakage points to prevent the flow of air between the attic and the living spaces of the home. We then blew in 7 additional inches of fiberglass insulation, bringing the attic up to the Energy Star-recommended level.

As a result of our insulation upgrade, this homeowner and his family will enjoy a cooler home during summers, a warmer home during winters, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 30% for the life of their home.

Attic Restoration - Full Extraction of Old Insulation, Air Sealing, Sanitizing, and Blown-In Fiberglass Insulation in Tulare, CA

The homeowner called Tyson Energy Solutions because her 1200 sq. ft. house was uncomfortably warm and her air conditioning costs were very high. When we inspected her attic, we found that she only had four inches of old, dirty, cellulose insulation. We also located multiple areas in her attic where contaminants and air were leaking from her attic into her living space. She noted that her house was always extremely dusty, even when she cleaned and dusted multiple times during the week.

We began the attic restoration by extracting the old insulation and disposing of it. We then cleaned and sanitized the attic using Nisus DSV sanitizer. This is a concentrated disinfectant, cleaner, mildewstat, fungicide, and sanitizer that kills a broad spectrum of viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Once we had a clean area to work with, we pinpointed all areas where air leakage could occur and sealed those areas with closed-cell foam. This included all top plates, wire and plumbing penetrations, and registers. By sealing the attic, air is prevented from flowing between the attic and the home's living spaces. Additionally, we installed barriers at any potential rodent entry points to prevent them from accessing the attic.

Once completed, we blew in 14 inches of premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches, providing the Energy Star recommended R38 level.

Lastly, we installed a new attic access for the homeowner and replaced the old screen on the existing gable vent.

This homeowner and her family will certainly enjoy a more comfortable and healthier home with less dust for as long as they live in this house.

QuietCool Smart Gable Attic Fan 3.0 Installation and Insulation Upgrade in Tulare, CA

The homeowner called Tyson Energy Solutions because his air conditioner was constantly running in the summer. Upon inspection of his attic, we found that the insulation was insufficient- only about 4 inches- and the attic was sweltering and did not have proper ventilation. We determined that we needed to add more insulation and add a gable attic fan in order to cool his attic and allow his HVAC system to run efficienty.

We upgraded the homeowner's attic to the Energy Star recommended R49 level by increasing his insulation to 18 inches using our blown-in, premium Johns Manville fiberglass insulation. We also air-sealed any openings we saw using closed-cell foam. This was done to prevent air from transferring between the attic and the living spaces of his home. We cleared the soffit vents to ensure improved ventilation of the attic space.

We also installed a QuietCool Smart Gable Attic Fan 3.0. The fan can be manually controlled through an app on the homeowner's phone or set to turn on and off when varying temperature and humidity conditions are present. This ensures the greatest amount of both flexibility and control for the homeowner.

As a result, the home is now able to stay cool during the summer, and the homeowner will enjoy a more comfortable home and lower heating and cooling bills year-round for the life of the home.
