1200 Sq. Ft. Home Insulation Upgrade to R38 with Blown In Fiberglass in Visalia, CA

The homeowner contacted us because their attic had zero insulation and they desperately needed insulation added in order to keep their home a comfortable temperature and keep their heating and cooling bills low. We came out and inspected their attic and found that their insulation was indeed absent. It looked like the previous owner had begun to upgrade the attic but never completed the project. We determined that an insulation upgrade was needed to help the homeowner achieve their goals.

We air-sealed leakage points with closed-cell foam to prevent airflow between the attic and home's living spaces. We then blew in 14 inches of fiberglass insulation to bring the attic to an R38 level, which is the recommendation for our climate from Energy Star.

Because of the work we performed, the homeowner and his family will now enjoy a cool, comfortable home in summer, a warm home in winter, better indoor air quality, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50% for as long as they reside in their home.

Insulation Removal and Air Duct Cleaning in Visalia, CA

The customer called Tyson Energy Solutions because he was remodeling his home and knew he had old, dirty insulation in his attic. As part of a two step process, he wanted to remove the old insulation, do some remodeling and repairs in the attic, and then have us blow in our premium fiberglass insulation at a later date. He also wanted to have his ducts cleaned so that the home would be starting off with a clean slate.

We expertly removed all of the old insulation, which was dirty and was not effectively insulating the attic from the extreme heat of the Central Valley summers. We also cleaned the air ducts using RamAir Duct Cleaning System, which uses compressed air to efficiently eliminate dust, debris, and contaminants from air ducts.

The attic and ducts are undoubtedly cleaner than they were before, and we can't wait to move to step two of the project, which is cleaning and sanitizing the attic, air sealing any leakage points, and blowing in the new insulation. Once this process is completed, the home will have healthier air, be more comfortable, and have lower energy bills for the life of the home.

Attic Restoration in Two Homes on Property Using Blown In Fiberglass Insulation in Visalia, CA

For this unique project, the homeowner called us because he had two homes on his property, and both were experiencing high heating and cooling bills and uncomfortable temperatures during extreme heat and cold.

Upon inspection of the attics, we found that both attics had about 5-6 inches of old, dirty insulation. Dirty insulation is an indicator that there is air leakage occurring between the attic and the living spaces of the home.

We began the attic restorations by extracting and disposing of the old insulation in both attics. We then cleaned and sanitized the attics using Nisus DSV sanitizer. This is a concentrated disinfectant, cleaner, mildewstat, fungicide, and sanitizer that kills a broad spectrum of viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Once we had clean areas to work with, we pinpointed all areas where air leakage could occur and sealed those areas with closed-cell foam. This included all top plates, wire and plumbing penetrations, and registers. By sealing the attic, air is prevented from flowing between the attic and the home's living spaces. Additionally, we installed barriers at any potential rodent entry points to prevent them from accessing the attic. We cleared the soffit vents to ensure improved ventilation of the attic spaces.

We then blew in premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches. This provided the Energy Star recommended R38 level of insulation.

Now, both homes on the property enjoy reduced heating and cooling costs, better temperature comfort, and better indoor air quality for the life of the homes.

Attic Restoration - Removal, Air-Sealing, and New Insulation in 940 Sq. Ft. Home in Visalia, CA

Danny contacted us because his home was not only hot and stuffy during the summer, but it would feel freezing during the winter. He was looking for a way to make the temperature in his home more stable, as well as to reduce his heating and cooling costs. We came out and inspected his attic and found that there was virtually no insulation present, maybe about an inch. The attic was also littered with all kinds of debris. We determined that a comprehensive attic restoration was needed to help Danny reach his goals.

We began by removing all of the debris and old insulation. We then used DSV sanitizer to clean the attic and eliminate the irritants and contaminants. Next, we sealed all air leakage points with closed-cell foam. This helps prevent air from moving between the attic and the living spaces of the home. Next, we installed rodent-proof barriers to prevent rodents and other pests from entering the attic. Lastly, we blew in premium, fiberglass insulation to an R38 level, or 14 inches.

Because of the full attic restoration we performed, Danny will experience better indoor air quality, reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50%, and a more temperate, comfortable home year-round for as long as he lives there.
