R38 Insulation Upgrade from 2 Inches to 14 Inches in 1600 Sq. Ft. Home in Armona, CA

The homeowner had his roof replaced and discovered that his attic insulation was virtually nonexistent. He found Tyson Energy Solutions through our hundreds of 5-star Google reviews and wanted his insulation upgraded to bring it up to R38, the Energy Star-recommended level for our climate in the Fresno area. He was looking forward to having his attic properly insulated so that he could save money on his monthly heating and cooling bills and helping his home maintain a comfortable temperature year-round.

We began by air-sealing visible leakage points with closed-cell foam to help prevent airflow between the attic and the home's living spaces. We then blew in 12 inches of premium fiberglass insulation, bringing the attic up to current building codes. We were able to finish the job in about 2 hours.

As a result of the insulation upgrade, the homeowner and his family will enjoy a cooler, more comfortable home during summer, a warmer home in winter, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 30% for as long as they reside there.

Insulation Upgrade with Blown Fiberglass in 1400 Square Foot Home in Lemoore, CA

The homeowner of this 1400 sq. ft. home in Lemoore, CA called us because she was experiencing high cooling bills and her home was hot and uncomfortable during the extreme heat of the summer months in the Central Valley. She believed that she only had four inches of insulation in her attic. When we arrived at her home and inspected her attic, we confirmed that the old cellulose insulation was insufficient to keep her hot attic air from transferring to the living spaces of her home.

We upgraded the homeowner's attic with 18 inches of blown-in, premium Johns Manville fiberglass insulation, raising it to the Energy Star recommended R49 level. We also air-sealed any openings we saw using closed-cell foam. This was done to prevent air from transferring between the attic and the living spaces of her home. We cleared the soffit vents to ensure improved ventilation of the attic space.

Because we use premium fiberglass insulation that doesn't settle, she can enjoy her well-insulated attic for years to come.

Insulation Upgrade with Blown-In Fiberglass Insulation and Smart QuietCool Gable Attic Fan in Lemoore, CA

We were called out by the homeowner to a 2700 sq. ft. home in Lemoore, CA because his house was hot and uncomfortable and his air conditioning bills were extremely high. Upon inspecting his attic, we found that there was less than four inches of insulation present.

We increased the level of insulation in the attic by blowing in premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches. This provided the Energy Star recommended R38 level of insulation. We also sealed holes and gaps in the attic to prevent air leakage between the attic and the living spaces of the home.

We also installed a QuietCool Smart Gable Attic Fan 3.0. The fan can be manually controlled through an app on the homeowner's phone, or can be set to turn on and off when varying temperature and humidity conditions are present.

Because we use premium fiberglass insulation that won't settle over time, and since the QuietCool Smart Gable Attic Fan 3.0 has a 15-year warranty, the homeowner and his family will enjoy a more comfortable and healthier home, with reduced heating and cooling bills for years to come.

Attic Restoration - Full Extraction of Old Insulation, Air Sealing, Sanitizing, and Blown-In Fiberglass Insulation in Lemoore, CA

The homeowner reached out to Tyson Energy Solutions because she was experiencing painfully high cooling costs that seemed to be increasing every year. In addition, she reported that her air conditioner was kicking on frequently, yet didn't seem to ever cool the house sufficiently. She also reported having allergies to the dust that was constantly on every surface in her home.

Upon inspection of her attic, we discovered that she only had 2-3 inches of dirty, old, cellulose insulation in the home, likely the remnants of what was installed in the house when it was built in 1974. We determined that the best course of action to relieve her high energy bills and temperature discomfort was to do an attic restoration and install a QuietCool Smart Gable Attic Fan.

We began the attic restoration by extracting and disposing of the old insulation. We then cleaned and sanitized the attic using Nisus DSV sanitizer. This is a concentrated disinfectant, cleaner, mildewstat, fungicide, and sanitizer that kills a broad spectrum of viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Once the attic was cleaned, we identified all areas where air leakage could occur and sealed those areas with closed-cell foam. This included all top plates, wire and plumbing penetrations, and registers. By doing so, we prevented air from flowing between the attic and the home's living spaces. Additionally, we installed barriers at any potential rodent entry points to prevent them from accessing the attic. We cleared the soffit vents to ensure improved ventilation of the attic space.

We then increased the level of insulation in the attic by blowing in premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches. This provided the Energy Star recommended R38 level of insulation.

Lastly, we installed the QuietCool Smart Gable Attic Fan 3.0, which sucks cool air from outside the attic, thus further reducing the temperature and likelihood of heat transfer within the home.

The homeowner was thrilled with the results. Not only did she notice an immediate difference in the temperature, comfort, and air quality of her home, but her cooling costs were reduced by 75% in the first month after we performed the work. She will now get to enjoy lower heating and cooling costs and a more comfortable home for the life of her house.

Insulation Upgrade - Adding 11 Inches of Blown In Fiberglass Insulation on Top of Cellulose in Lemoore, CA

Elsa contacted us during a ferocious Central Valley summer heat wave. Although her thermostat was set to 77, it was getting up to 83 degrees inside of her house, despite running her air conditioner all day. We took a look in her attic and found the culprit: low insulation. With only 3 inches of insulation protecting her home from the scorching attic heat, it was no wonder her HVAC system wasn't able to work effectively. We determined that an insulation upgrade was the best route for Elsa.

We began by air-sealing visible leakage points with closed-cell foam to prevent air from leaking between the attic and the home's living spaces. We then blew in premium, fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches, bringing the attic to the Energy Star recommendation of R38.

As a result of the insulation upgrade, Elsa and her family will enjoy a much cooler home during the summers, a warmer home during the winters, and she will cut her monthly heating and cooling costs by up to 30% for as long as she stays in that home.
