Cameron was referred to Tyson through his brother, who'd had insulation added in his attic and had noticed a huge difference in his home's comfort and in his cooling costs. We came out and examined Cameron's attic and found that there was only about 2 inches of insulation present and debris was scattered throughout. Cameron decided to have us perform an insulation upgrade in order to help his home feel more comfortable and lower his bills.
We began by air-sealing visible leakage points using closed-cell foam. This is done to help prevent air from flowing between the attic and living spaces of the home. We then blew in 14 inches of premium, fiberglass insulation, bringing the attic up to the Energy Star-recommended R38 level.
As a result of the upgraded insulation, Cameron and his family will enjoy a cooler, more comfortable home in summer, a warmer home in winter, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 30% for as long as they live in the home.
Bonnie met Chris Tyson at the Fresno Home Show and learned about how proper insulation could help her home to maintain a comfortable temperature year-round and also reduce her heating and cooling costs. After the home show, Bonnie asked Tyson to come out and inspect her attic. When we did, we discovered that her attic only had about 3 inches of fiberglass batting present. As a result of her low insulation, she was spending significantly more on her heating and cooling bills each month as her home struggled to retain the conditioned air. She decided to upgrade her insulation to an R49 level, even more than the R38 level recommended by Energy Star for our climate.
We began the upgrade by air-sealing any visible leakage points with closed-cell foam. This helps to prevent airflow between the attic and living spaces of the home. We then blew in fiberglass insulation to the R49 level, or 16 inches.
Because of the insulation we added, Bonnie and her family will experience the following benefits for as long as they live in that home:
- Reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 30%
- A cooler, more comfortable home in summer
- A warmer, more cozy home in winter
Jose contacted Tyson Energy Solutions because he felt that his home was not staying warm during the winter and not staying cool during the summer. With rising energy costs, Jose was eager to address the problem. We came out and examined his attic and found that he had less than 6 inches of insulation. In some areas, there were bare spots, which led to certain areas of his home becoming hotter or colder than others. We determined that a comprehensive attic restoration was the best solution to address Jose's concerns.
We began by removing all of the old insulation, then cleaning and sanitizing the attic with DSV sanitizer. This serves to eliminate microbes and contaminants in the attic and improves indoor air quality. We then meticulously air-sealed the attic, including the recessed lighting, wiring and plumbing penetrations, and registers. We also installed rodent-proof barriers at potential entry points in order to keep rodents and other animals from entering the space. Once the attic was sealed, we blew in premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to R38 level, or 14 inches, according to Energy Star recommendations. We took care not to block any of the attic vents, in order to preserve proper ventilation.
As a result of our complete attic restoration, not only will Jose and his family experience a more comfortable and healthier home, but they will also enjoy reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 20% for as long as they live there.
Joseph contacted Tyson Energy Solutions because he was looking to reduce his heating and cooling costs. The previous homeowner had removed all of the old insulation but never replaced it, leaving the home feeling hot and stuffy during summer and frigid during winter. When we came and inspected his attic, we discovered that the attic was indeed bare. We determined that an insulation upgrade to R38 was Joseph's best option to help reduce his bills and keep his home comfortable.
We began by air-sealing visible leakage points. We then blew in premium fiberglass insulation to an R38 level, bringing the attic to the Energy Star recommendation for our Central Valley climate.
As a result of the work we did, Joseph and his family will now enjoy reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 30% and a more comfortable temperature in their home year-round.
The homeowner contacted us because her home felt incredibly hot, which caused her to run her air conditioner constantly, leading to high cooling costs. We came out and inspected her attic and found the cause: there was only about 3 inches of dirty insulation in her attic, as well as a lot of debris. There was also evidence of rodent activity in the attic. When we showed the pictures to the homeowner, she decided to do a full attic restoration.
We performed the attic restoration by extracting and disposing of the old, cellulose insulation. We then cleaned and sanitized the attic using Nisus DSV sanitizer, which is a concentrated disinfectant and sanitizer that kills a broad spectrum of viruses, bacteria, and fungi. We then pinpointed all areas where air leakage could occur -- top plates, wire and plumbing penetrations, and registers -- and sealed those areas with closed-cell foam. By sealing the attic, air is prevented from flowing between the attic and the home's living spaces. We also installed barriers at any potential rodent entry points to prevent them from accessing the attic. We cleared the soffit vents to ensure improved ventilation of the attic space.
Once the attic had been cleaned and air-sealed, we blew in 14 inches of premium, fiberglass insulation, bringing the attic up to the Energy Star recommended R38 level.
As a result of our attic restoration, not only will the homeowner and her family experience a more comfortable home, but better indoor air quality and lower heating and cooling bills for the life of the home.
