This homeowner called us to his home for a basement and crawlspace evaluation. We noticed the vented crawlspace had insulation falling. This can be caused by the vents that in the winter season let cold air into the home, which causes the insulation to sag away from the sub floor and cold air then gets above it. In the summer, vents let warm humid air in, which is cooled by the subterranean crawl space which causes relative humidity to go way up! Condensation can form all over the crawlspace surfaces, supporting mold!
We removed and properly disposed the damaged and moldy insulation. We insulated the walls with Silverglo foam boards. We then began the encapsulation process installed a dimpled plastic drainage matting across the floor to create a airspace and thermal break, and terrablock floor insulation is installed over it. We then installed an encapsulation liner over permanently across the floor and sealed it with mechanical fasteners to the walls and spiked to the floor. Cleanspace features ultrafresh anti- microbial ingredients in the product. We then added spray foam insulation to the walls and rim joist!
Thanks to Dr Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this house will have much lower humidity, much warmer floors upstairs, less drafts, a more comfortable house, lower fuel and electric bills!!
This homeowner in Belchertown, MA called us with a mold issue. He was hoping that we would be able to identify the mold source and prevent it from coming back. When our Home Comfort Specialist arrived in the home, he noted that the basement had insufficient insulation - there was fiberglass insulation installed that was falling off of the ceiling due to the moisture content.
Fogarty's Home Services was able to help this customer with the home. After the removal of the fiberglass batts was completed, we went in and applied two-part closed cell spray foam to the rim joist. This spray foam gets into all the cracks and crevices in the rim joist, sealing it and insulating the basement.
Now, this homeowner will have lower energy bills and a more comfortable home!
This homeowner from Belchertown, MA reached out to us hoping that we would be able to help her with the home she built with her husband. It had a large amount of problems -- including high humidity and mold, rodents, dust, and cold rooms. It was a Cape-style home, meaning that it had kneewalls. These kneewalls were insulated using fiberglass batts that were very dirty and had been damaged by the humidity. They were coming away from the wall in the kneewall. She needed a replacement solution as soon as possible.
We had the perfect solution for this customer -- our Super Kneewall™ treatment. First, our SilverGlo™ foam insulation panels are installed on the bottom of the rafters in the kneewall spaces and the ceiling joist bays are blocked and sealed with foam to stop air leakage. Then the roof slopes are dense packed with TruSoft™ cellulose insulation to stop air flow and insulate. Finally, the flat ceiling is insulated with TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. Result - rooms are comfortable all year and need much less heat and air conditioning. Drafts are eliminated as kneewall spaces are airtight and clean and suitable for storage. Summer roof heat is far less.
This homeowner in Belchertown, MA called us hoping we could help her with the home her mother lives in. The caller and her husband had built the home for her mother. They were having a lot of moisture buildup, peeling ceilings, and mold. This was an issue in the entire home -- not just the attic or basement, but the main living areas as well. They were also having issues with dust and pollen, drafts, rodents, and uncomfortable rooms. This was a Cape Cod-construction home, with both kneewalls and a small attic. The attic had blown-in insulation, but no air sealing.
We were able to help this customer! We were able to replace the attic insulation with TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. We started by removing the old blown-in insulation using a large vacuum. We then went in and air-sealed around all of the points where air leaks up from the home to the attic. We did this using our Zypfoam™ spray foam. Once the atitc is air sealed, we used a long hose to blow in TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. TruSoft™ is amazing -- it does not burn, get moldy, or attract pests. The blown-in insulation fills all gaps and oddly shaped voids. The homeowner now can enjoy lower energy bills and brand new insulation!
This homeowner in Belchertown, MA called us looking to talk about their home. They were in the process of renovating the home before selling it. They wanted their attic insulation removed and replaced. This was essential preparation for them. There were spots where the blown-in fiberglass did not cover, and they did not have any air sealing. They also had a thin scuttle cover. All of these things combined meant that the hot air from the attic was warming their home, and their conditioned air was warming up.
