Guy called Complete Home Solutions to address the comfort problems on the second floor of his Galesville, MD home. Upon further review from one of our trained Home Comfort Specialist, it was determined that the lack of air sealing and insulation in the home's attic was a leading cause of the uncomfortable conditions. On the day of the job, our Home Comfort Technicians began air sealing the attic with fire block spray foam. The spray foam is applied to our recessed light covers, top plates, and any outlets in the attic to ensure that the air you pay to heat or cool stays in the living space of your home. The next step in this attic was to vent the bath fans out through the roof. If your fans are not vented properly, it can create moisture issues in your attic. The final step of this attic project was to blow in new Cellulose insulation, which creates a 16 inch barrier between the attic condition and the rest of your home. As you can see in this picture, we install rulers throughout the attic to show our customers just how much of a difference our insulation makes. Nicholas noticed an immediate difference, even in mild temperatures, and can't wait to see how his house performs in the future.
For this customer, we had to explain an important concept. Even if your attic has insulation, that doesn't mean that it's efficient. If you've never had air sealing done, then your insulation alone isn't really stopping any air leakage. As time goes on, and air filters through, that old insulation is going to continue to lose its efficiency. What we did for this homeowner was take out the old insulation, air seal the attic, and install our cellulose insulation. Now, this customer can say that they have a healthier, more comfortable and more energy efficient home.
The owner of this Pasadena home was suffering from uncomfortable temperatures and called in our Auditor to find the source. Our Auditor determined that there was insufficient insulation in the attic which was causing air leakage in the attic.
To solve this our production team set out to provide air sealing and blow in cellulose to prevent further leaking and improve the overall comfort of the home. #RuleYourAttic this upcoming winter so you're not out in the cold.
