This Harpers Ferry WVA home has an enclosed room/deck area that was too cold in the winters and too hot in the summers. The homeowners called to see if we could help make it more comfortable. After performing a Home Performance Inspection, our Sales Pro Jonathan was able to identify a need for better insulation below the room. The existing batt, rolled insulation was falling loose from the flooring and had gaps where the hot and cold air from outside was able to move into the floor above. Jonathan recommended the use of spray foam to air seal and insulate the spaces between the frame for the deck/floor. This will keep the space more comfortable and reduce the energy cost to heat or cool the room.
This Round Hill VA home had issues with condensation forming on the HVAC ducts due to temperature variations in the rooms the ducts were passing through. This issue is known as "Duct Sweating" and can lead to stained or damaged drywall as well as mildew or mold growth. After calling us to help with their home concerns, our Home Performance Sales Pro Pedro went out to perform a whole home inspection and advised on having the HVAC ducts encapsulated with spray foam. This service would protect the conditioned air travelling through the ducts and reduce the chance of any future duct sweating.
The homeonwer living in The Plains, VA was having trouble reducing the humidity in their home all year round. During the comfort and energy evaluation it was found that the humidity source was the dirt floor crawl space allowing the humidity from the Earth to rise through the house.
Comfenergy installed dimple matting, Terra Block floor insulation, CleanSpace 20 mil vapor barrier, and then closed cell spray foam insulation. Now the humidity can be controlled as it is not allowed to enter the home.
This Purcellville homeowner was looking for a great way to insulate the basement and have it prepped to finish before putting it on the market for sale. They didn't want to finish the basement completely, but wanted it "ready to finish" so the buyer could build it out as the wished.
Comfenergy found the ultimate solution by using Basement to Beautiful wall panels. These wall panels are insulated with SilverGlo foam and have the metal studs already built into them. Each insulated Basement to Beautiful wall panel is held in place with foam spray insulation, and then secured using long bolts. There are 3 distinct advantages to these wall panels. 1) Once they are installed, the room is ready to be finished because the framing is built in. 2) They provide moisture intrusion control. 3) The Basement to Beautiful panels are infused with anti-microbial materials and will not mold nor mildew.
This before/after slection comes from Bealton, VA. The room on the other side of this wall was hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Thermal imagery from the room side showed a ton of thermal bridging which was making the room uncomfortable. Comfenergy used a closed cell spray foam to solve the problem.
