Cold top floor-Midland, VA

This Midland, VA homeowner was looking to find a way to make the top floor rooms on the back of the house warmer and less drafty in the winter. Upon a full evaluation by Comfenergy, we found the main culprit to be the cantilever on the back side of the house allowing cold air up under the floors on the back side of the house.

Comfenergy opened the rear cantilever to find almost no insulation whatsoever.  Plus there were no real rim joists to slow or stop the air from entering beneath the floors above. Comfenergy used SilverGlo foam boards to create a rim joist. We then used closed cell spray foam to air seal and insulate the cantilever.

The rooms on the back side of the house are nice and warm now!

Spray Foam-Haymarket, VA

Comfenergy used spray foam to fix the problem.

Haymarket VA - Attic Air Sealing

This home in Haymarket VA had no air seal in the ceilings.  Conditioned air intended to cool rooms in the house was able to escape through gaps and holes in the ceiling including the spaces around this ceiling vent.  When conditioned air is able to escape the rooms it is intended to cool, your HVAC systems has to work harder to create more conditioned air.  We start to solve problems like this by finding those gaps and cracks and then air sealing around them with Zyp Foam. this can make a home more comfortable and more energy efficient.

Everlast Window Inserts in Gainesville, VA

A homeowner in Gainesville, VA had a broken basement window. Until recently, the standards for basement windows haven’t been very high. Builders paid attention to windows in the main part of the house, but typically chose cheap steel or wood-framed windows for the basement. As a result, standard basement windows have some significant problems.

The Comfenergy team quickly replaced this window with an EverLast Window Insert. The EverLast Window Insert features double-pane, insulated glass, so you won't need to worry about major heat loss. Our installation crew will use the right techniques to eliminate air leaks through gaps around the window.

Hot Top Floor Solution

A homeowner in Gainesville, VA had an upper floor that was always uncomfortable, especially in the summer. The AC ran constantly but it never felt cool enough in the rooms upstairs. Comfenergy removed the old inefficient attic insulation, air sealed, and blew in cellulose insulation, covering the ductwork in the attic as well. Now the top floor of this Gainesville house is much more comfortable and more energy efficient too.
