Tracey reached out after discovering rodent contamination in the attic and wanted to improve both the performance and usability of the space. In addition to concerns about sanitation, the attic was difficult to access and wasn't functioning as useful storage space.
When we evaluated the attic, we found contamination that needed to be safely removed, along with multiple air leakage pathways contributing to energy loss.
Our team started by removing contaminated materials and thoroughly sanitizing the attic. Once the space was clean, we focused on rebuilding the attic system the right way.
We sealed attic air leaks, addressed chimney and penetration-related leakage, sealed top plates, and upgraded insulation levels to improve the home's overall efficiency. We also improved attic accessibility so the space could be safely reached and utilized moving forward.
Now the attic is sanitized, energy efficient, easier to access, and far more useful than before.

Air seal and blown in insulation in a Swickley attic
Brian called Home Environment Solutions to help improve the comfort in his Bridgeville, PA home. The Home Environment Solutions team arrived and got to work.
The attic had old insulation that was not installed well. This was causing heat loss making the home uncomfortable and expensive. The attic was air sealed including constructing a cap for the kitchen soffit to stop air and heat loss. An Attic deck was built and insulated with SilverGlo and then adding a thick layer of blown in cellulous.
