Attic Mold and Insulation

Customer had mold in the attic of his Finleyville, PA home.    He contacted Home Environment Solutions to see how they could help.   Russ and the customer sat down and came up with the solution.

The HES team removed the old pressed board, the fiberglass bat insulation and the old blown in cellulose.   The whole area was dried using an air scrubber and dehumidifiers.  The mold was then treated and HEPA vacuumed.

After the mold problem was removed Home Environment Solutions then air sealed and Insulated the attic.

Michael reached out because his two-story home had a persistent musty odor and visible mold concerns. The rooms located above the crawlspace were also uncomfortable, with noticeable temperature differences compared to the rest of the house.

After evaluating the crawlspace, our team addressed both the moisture and insulation issues contributing to the problem. We completed mold remediation and sanitation, insulated and sealed the crawlspace areas, and addressed rim joist and crawlspace air leakage to stop moisture intrusion and temperature transfer.

With these improvements complete, the musty odor has been eliminated, visible mold has been properly treated, and the rooms above the crawlspace are now significantly more comfortable. The home is healthier, cleaner, and performs more efficiently year-round.

Improved attic access and insulation upgrade in Gibsonia, PA 15044

Bill reached out because his two-story home was experiencing high energy bills and noticeable drafts in several rooms. While there weren’t moisture or mold concerns, it was clear that air was escaping through the attic and driving up heating and cooling costs. He also wanted better access and usability in the attic space.

Our team focused on tightening the top of the home to reduce air loss. We sealed and insulated the attic, closed off air leaks around top plates and attic penetrations, and upgraded insulation levels to improve overall performance. As part of the work, we also improved attic access, making the space easier and safer to use for storage and future maintenance.

After the upgrades, Bill’s home holds temperature better, drafts are reduced, energy usage is lower, and the attic is now far more functional and accessible.
