Attic Restoration with Spray Foam on Vaulted Ceiling in 2200 Sq. Ft. House in Clovis, CA

Daniel reached out to us because his home constantly felt hot and stuffy during the summer months. He had a vaulted ceiling in his living room, which felt like it was the hottest room in the house. We came out and inspected his attic and found that his insulation was low, with only about 4-5 inches of old, cellulose insulation present. In addition, there were numerous holes, gaps, and cracks which was allowing air to flow between the attic and the rooms of the home. His vaulted ceiling was the main culprit. We also found multiple HVAC ducts that were broken and leaking conditioned air into the attic and contaminating the air in the living spaces of the home. We determined that a full attic restoration was needed, as well as repairing the broken ducts, and applying spray foam on the vaulted ceiling in order to insulate it and prevent air flow.

We began by removing all of the old insulation and sanitizing the attic, eliminating the irritants and contaminants. We then installed rodent-proof barriers to prevent rodents and other pests from entering the space. We then carefully air-sealed all potential leakage points to prevent air from flowing between the attic and the living spaces of the home. Next, we applied two inches of spray foam to the vaulted ceiling to insulate it and prevent air leakage. Lastly, we blew in premium, fiberglass insulation to an R38 level, bringing the attic to the Energy Star-recommended level.

As a result of the full attic restoration we performed, Daniel and his family will enjoy a cool, comfortable home during summers, a warmer home during winters, less dust and better indoor air quality, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50% for as long as they live in the home.

From 5 Inches to R38 (14 Inches) -- Insulation Upgrade with Blown In Fiberglass in Clovis, CA

Kim contacted us because she was looking to upgrade her rental property and had worked with Tyson Energy Solutions before. With the work we had previously done for her, her energy bill during the summer had been reduced to only $200, so she was confident that an insulation upgrade could help her rental property too. We inspected her attic and found that there was only 5 inches of insulation present, so we determined that an insulation upgrade would indeed be her best option to achieve a more comfortable home for her tenant.

We began by air-sealing visible leakage points and removing the debris from an old swamp cooler that was no longer being used in the attic. We then blew in premium, fiberglass insulation to a level of R38, or 14 inches.

As a result of the insulation upgrade we performed, Kim's tenant will enjoy a cooler, more comfortable home during winter, and warmer home during summer, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 30%. Kim will also be able to use this as a selling point when she goes to rent her property to NY future tenants.

From 4 Inches to 14 Inches - Insulation Upgrade Using Blown In Fiberglass in 1200 Sq. Ft. Home in Clovis, CA

Marjorie contacted Tyson in search of a resolution to her hot, stuffy home and high cooling and heating costs. She said that she felt as though her HVAC system was running constantly during summer and winter. We came out and inspected her attic and discovered the cause. Her attic had only about 4 inches of insulation present. We determined that an insulation upgrade was needed to help Marjorie achieve her goals.

We began by air-sealing visible leakage points with closed-cell foam to help prevent air from traveling between the attic and living spaces of the home. We then blew in about 10 inches of premium, fiberglass insulation. Adding this insulation brought the home up to an R38 level, which si the Energy Star recommendation for our climate.

As a result of the upgrade, Marjorie and her family will experience a cool home in the summer, a warm home in winter, and lower HVAC usage by up to 30% for the life of her home.
