Sylvia was a new homeowner who had recently moved in her home. She became aware of the fact that the insulation in her attic was low during a home inspection and she wanted to add more prior to her first summer in her new house. When we came out and took a look at her current level, we found that her attic only had about 5 inches of cellulose insulation present. Because cellulose insulation is made from shredded paper, it is known to settle and condense over time, leading to less heat flow protection. She wanted to add another 9 inches of fiberglass insulation, which won't settle and lose its R-value as the years pass.
We began by air-sealing any visible leakage points that were accessible above the old insulation. Then, we were able to quickly blow in the additional insulation to bring the attic up to the R38 level that is recommended for our climate here in the Central Valley. This additional R-value will help to prevent the flow of heat between the attic and the home's living spaces.
As a result, Sylvia's home will be cooler during hot months, warmer in the cold months, and she can look forward to lower heating and cooling costs by up to 30%. The cost of owning her home is now significantly less and she can enjoy this for as long as she lives there!
Cheryl first learned about Tyson Energy Solutions at the Fresno Home Show in March 2024. She learned about the numerous benefits of having a properly insulated attic, so she scheduled a time for our team to come out and inspect her attic. When we did so, we discovered that her attic only contained about 5 inches of fiberglass batting, well below the R38 level recommended by Energy Star for our climate. Cheryl wanted to upgrade her insulation to reduce her heating and cooling costs and make her home a more comfortable temperature year-round.
We began the insulation upgrade by air-sealing visible leakage points in order to help prevent airflow from occurring between the attic and living spaces of the home. We also placed attic markers and took pictures both before and after the work so that we could provide proof to Cheryl that the work was completed according to our specifications. We then blew in fiberglass insulation to bring the attic up to R38.
Because of the work we did in Cheryl's attic, she will be able to enjoy a cooler, more comfortable home during summer, a warmer home in winter, and reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 30% for as long as she resides in her home.
Bill learned about the benefits of an attic restoration and whole house fan when he saw an ad from Tyson Energy Solutions in Fresno Home Magazine. He was interested in reducing his heating and cooling costs and also making his indoor air quality better. When we came out and inspected his attic, we found that he only had about 4 inches of old, dirty insulation present. We determined that he was a great candidate for an attic restoration and whole house fan.
We took the following steps to restore Bill's attic:
- removed the old insulation
- installed a QuietCool Stealth Pro 5.5 whole house fan
- cleaned and sanitized the attic using DSV sanitizer to remove contaminants and irritants
- air-sealed the attic floor with closed-cell foam to prevent air from transferring between the attic and Bill's home
- installed rodent-proof barriers at potential entry points to keep rodents and other pests out
- blew in 13 inches of premium, fiberglass insulation to bring the attic to an R38 level
As a result of the attic restoration and whole house fan installation, Bill will experience the following benefits:
- reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50-90%
- better indoor air quality
- less dust in his home
- a cool, comfortable home during summer
- a warm, toasty home during winter
Mark learned about the benefits of an attic restoration from the Tyson Energy Solutions ad in Fresno Home Magazine. He was attracted to the prospects of reducing his heating and cooling costs, improving his indoor air quality, and keeping his home a comfortable temperature year-round. We came out and inspected his attic and discovered that he only had about 5 inches of old, cellulose insulation present with rodent droppings littered throughout the attic. Mark decided that an attic restoration was needed to achieve his goals.
We took the following steps to perform the attic restoration for Mark:
- removed all old insulation and debris from attic
- cleaned and sanitized the attic using DSV sanitizer to remove contaminants, irritants, and odors
- air-sealed leakage points with closed-cell foam including top plates, registers, recessed lights, and wiring and plumbing penetrations
- installed rodent-proof barriers at potential entry points to keep rodents and other pests out of the attic
- blew in premium, fiberglass insulation to an R38 level, bringing the attic to the Energy Star-recommended level
Mark and his family now enjoy the following benefits:
- reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50%
- better indoor air quality
- reduced dust in the house
- cool, comfortable home in summer and warm, toasty home in winter
- increased home resale value
Jessica learned about the benefits of proper attic ventilation through the Tyson Energy Solutions ad in Fresno Home Magazine. She was looking for a cost-effective way of keeping her home cool and lowering her monthly cooling costs. She contacted us and we came out and inspected her attic and discovered that she was the perfect candidate for a smart gable attic fan.
We installed the fan and paired it with Jessica's phone so that she can check on the fan's automatic operation according to temperature and humidity levels. We also block off the gable vent around the fan so that it correctly pulls hot air from inside the attic and dispels it out of the home.
As a result of the QuietCool Smart Gable Attic Fan 3.0 installation, Jessica's attic will be 20+ degrees cooler during the summer, which will help reduce the strain on her HVAC system and lower her AC bills. It will also help extend the life of her roof as the roof deck won't be exposed to such extreme heat.
