A resident of Smithtown contacted Triple H with comfort concerns in their home. One of the issues discovered was their attic Knee Wall had no insulation. The Knee wall is the short wall that forms a Triangular space. The floor of the Knee Wall is the ceiling of the room above it. Knee Walls are often not insulated. This space causes the room below it to stay cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Triple H used used SilverGlo between floor joists as needed on the Knee Wall and then blew in Cellulose Insulation. Now the room beneath the Knee Wall will be much more comfortable year round.
These ducts were insulated with 1" of closed cell spray foam. Air cannot leak through. Now, when your furnace or air conditioner heats or cools the air, that heating/cooling is delivered to your rooms without loss along the way!
A resident of Smithtown was having some comfort issues in their house, causing it to be cold all the time in there daughters room and main den. After an evaluation it was determined that they would benefit from adding in new attic insulation. Triple H went in and air sealed all the air leaks in the attic, as well as sealed all the ducts in the home. If you have air leaks in the ducts, the rooms farther away from the air handler will not heat or cool as well, so it’s recommended to do this. Next, they installed baffles (air chutes) in each rafter bay to keep soffit vents clear and prepare for insulation. They then blew in 10” of cellulose insulation, resulting in a warmer, more comfortable home with lower fuel and electric bills.
A homeowner from Smithtown, NY contacted Triple H stating that the bedroom above their garage gets very cold. They also wanted an energy audit. Our home comfort consultant, Bill, performed a free evaluation of the home. Upon completion Bill provided solutions for the homeowner. Triple H removed and disposed of the existing attic insulation. We then air sealed the attic floor, and insulated it with 16" of TruSoft cellulose. All the ducts inside of the attic were sealed with mastic to reduce air exfiltration. The homeowner will now be comfortable in their home, and it will be energy efficient.
A resident from Hauppauge, NY was looking to get an estimate on new attic insulation. After having a look at the attic, it was noticed that he definitely needed updated insulation. The current insulation wasn’t doing its job which was causing the home to be uncomfortable and harder to heat and cool throughout the year. Triple H went removed the old insulation. After the old insulation is removed the attic floor is then air sealed to prevent any air leaks within the attic. Then 12” of Blown-In Cellulose Insulation was added. This home should now be more comfortable year-round, and the homeowner should have lower utility bills.
